Welcome to Pettis of Wallingford Department Store Situated in the market town of Wallingford in Oxfordshire, Pettits was established on 6th March 1856 by Mr William Pettit who came from Newmarket, where his father was a saddle maker.
One of the largest and oldest businesses in Wallingford, the store remained in the Pettit family until 1987 when it was sold to the Rowse family, another local family firm well known for it’s honey production.
Pettits is the only department store remaining in Wallingford with over 20 departments covering three floors.
In the era of amazon and ebay, Pettits provide tbe service of a gentler age, with knowledgeable staff, goods instantly available and service to match. "THE PARCEL YOU TAKE HOME ARRIVES WITHOUT DELAY!" as Harrods used to say. God bless Mr Rowse,Champions and Pettits.must cost him a fortune. I hope his MD can find a profitable or sustainable modern model, not just selling off the property. I have some ideas....
